Motivation by itself is a rather external factor which
helps individuals and groups to have a direction on what they do , persistance
to achieve a goal and intensity to perform better and faster .Maslow says
people have a variety of types of needs (5 types) as a kind of hierarchy , the
2 lower order ones are external (physical) and the 3 top oreder ones are
internal (psychological) . They should be fulfilled by order and movement up
the hierarchy is not possible without fulfilling the lower level .
Based on Maslow’s hierarchy human beings have needs of
physiological / biological as food , clothes , shelter and sex . Security is
another level in which people need to be protected enough from dangers which
may be happening in a society . In this case , based on the information given ,
these two types of need may or may not be fulfilled completely , but more
probably the other 3 higher order (emotional) types of needs , have to
be fulfilled in order for the emloyees to be motivated enough to do their jobs
efficiently and use their maximum potentials .
